This Roman bronze ring, dating to the 2nd–3rd century A.D., features a striking square bezel rising in a stepped pyramidal form — each receding tier cut with crisp, flat faces that converge toward a flattened apex. The effect is bold and architectural, the bezel projecting with unusual verticality from a slender, round-section hoop. The bronze has developed a deep, even patina throughout.

Pyramidal rings of this type are found across the Roman provinces and are thought to have functioned as personal ornaments rather than seal rings, the raised form precluding use in wax. Their geometric severity reflects a taste for abstract, structural decoration that runs through Roman metalwork from the 2nd century onward.
