Byzantine Empire, ca. 10th to 12th century AD. A Byzantine bronze cross pendant of simple but elegant form, featuring rounded terminals and engraved concentric circle motifs decorating each arm. The design follows the traditional Greek cross form, with four arms of nearly equal length extending from a central circular point.

The surface retains an attractive dark green patina with lighter areas highlighting the engraved decoration. A small suspension loop rises above the upper arm, allowing the cross to be worn from a cord or chain as a personal devotional object. The repeated concentric circles likely carried both decorative and apotropaic significance, a motif frequently encountered in Byzantine metalwork and jewelry.

Crosses of this kind were widely worn throughout the Byzantine world as expressions of Christian faith and personal protection. Modest in material yet deeply symbolic, they formed part of the everyday devotional life of medieval Christians across the Eastern Mediterranean.
