A note on Roman army rings:
Roman rings, particularly those used in the military, were both symbols of rank and personal identity. Legionaries and officers often wore rings engraved with eagles (aquilae), a powerful emblem of Rome and its legions. These rings could signify allegiance, unit membership, or authority, with some used as signet rings for sealing documents.
